Deep water

Exploration is increasing in frontier regions, which, in many cases, means drilling in deepwater areas.

Expensive rigs and other specialist equipment are required to drill in these areas, so every well must count.

The inclusion of seabed logging in operators' workflows can make the exploration process more efficient and enable the operators to better focus their drilling resources. Deepwater is particularly conducive to seabed logging, although technological innovation and advanced modelling have successfully extended the technique's application into shallow water.

Seabed logging in reconnaissance scanning configuration, where the receivers are laid on the seabed in a widely spaced grid, can help operators to find deepwater prospects. More detailed depth-migrated 2D and 3D seabed-logging or seismic surveys can then be used to evaluate these prospects, so that drilling resources can be better focused.
