The main target of the Qulleq-1 well was the prominent cross-cutting reflection through a tilted fault block thought to represent a gas-liquid contact in the Fylla East area. The well, however, encountered only mudstones in this interval and no gas or oil. Later analysis suggests that the cross-cutting reflector probably is related to a phasechange transition from opal-CT to quartz. The proposed 3D-EM survey is designed to help conclude on the hydrocarbon potential of this Quelleq-1 structure that potentially could contain up to 4 billion barrels of oil! (GEUS, 2002)
