Health and safety measures at a glance
Toolbox meetings
Only designated personnel are allowed in the working area and each operation begins with a toolbox meeting, where everyone involved is given a health and safety briefing.
Focus on hazard management
EMGS has a strong focus on hazard management. Toolbox meetings, observation cards, risk assessment, management of change and one step back are some of the tools in frequent use. It is also important to stress that everyone working onboard an EMGS vessel has an obligation to stop an unsafe act.
Specialist crane operators
Receivers are deployed and recovered by specialist crane drivers. Automatic equipment handling lines on our purpose-built vessels have reduced the amount of manual handling that is required.
Weather is continuously assessed
The weather is continuously assessed before and during operations. We can operate safely in 4-5 m swells and our rapid receiver recovery time reduces the weather window that we require. Our vessels have a specific matrix of permitted operations, which detail what types of operations are allowed under different weather conditions.
Strict procedures
High-voltage equipment is operated only by trained and permitted personnel, who must follow strict procedures. We operate an alarmed tag-out and lock-out system, which is designed to restrict access for non-qualified personnel.
Trained in manual handling
Our personnel are trained in manual handling, and we continually assess the design of handling tools.
