Interpretation

Seabed-logging data is interpreted in the final stage in the workflow. However, interpretation skills are also required during advanced processing and imaging to inform the application of these methods.

Like all geophysical analysis, the quality of any seabed-logging interpretation depends on the skill and experience of the people working with the data. EMGS has performed more than 200 seabed-logging surveys and has developed robust interpretation techniques, including preliminary depth conversion, that can be rapidly applied after data acquisition. This means that we can start to interpret the data while the vessel is still available in the field and use the information obtained to optimise the survey.

We use state-of-the-art industry software, such as Irap RMS and Petrel, to integrate seabed-logging data with other geophysical and geological data. For example, seabed-logging anomalies can be classified for input to prospect-and-play analysis. Our proprietary 3D modelling, which is used during pre-survey feasibility studies, is also a powerful interpretation tool. We work closely with our clients and use our modelling applications to test hypotheses and compare modelled and real data.

We offer our interpretation service as part of a comprehensive EMGS seabed-logging survey, or as a distinct service that can be applied to third-party data.
