Svein Ellingsrud worked as a service engineer for IBM and Norsk Data before studying physics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. After finishing his MSc, he completed a PhD in physics. In 1992 Svein was employed at the Statoil R&D centre in Trondheim working with petro physics, rock physics and electromagnetic methods for downhole monitoring. He worked with Terje Eidesmo, also Founder and VP, on the Statoil seabed logging project started in 1997 and was a co-founder of EMGS. Svein was VP for all R&D and technology development since 2002 and was CTO until May 2008. He assumed his current position after working as a special advisor for EMGS.
